Adana Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant (Min of 30 hours up to 39 hours per week) to work in our small animal veterinary practice with focus on excellent patient care for cats, dogs, and furry exotics as well as exceptional, personalized client service. This is a great opportunity to switch gears to a smaller, non-corporate private practice if you have worked in a veterinary setting and have at least 2 years of recent experience in small animal hospital or clinic. Adana is a Certified Feline Friendly Practice; we especially welcome applicants who love working with cats. Applicants need to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19, including a booster vaccine if more than 12 months since the original series was completed.
Your job responsibilities will be relative to your level of experience. The vet assistant helps in many areas assisting the LVT and the doctors in their daily work. We expect you will assist with patient intake for exams, entering the data into our vet software, assist and provide compassionate restraint as needed for exams, treatments, and surgery for patients of all sizes. You will assist with computer/medical data entry, transcribe information from the doctor into the medical record, relay information to owners about their pets and much more. We are hoping for a happy and helpful communicator and team member! Part of the job includes dispensing medications, running patient lab samples, answering phones, and providing excellent customer care. You will share in performing light, daily cleaning and maintenance of the facility and the cages, as well as help with care of any hospitalized patients and of the cats in our boarding area. This is a physical job: You need to be able to lift 50 lbs. by yourself in this position as well as be prepared to be on your feet many hours per day. The position requires ability to work 1 or 2 Saturday morning shifts per month (office hours), as well as be a flexible team member that helps cover the hours we are open. This may include an average of 1 or 2 brief boarding shifts every other weekend.
We are looking for someone with long-term interest in this job, you love the field of small animal medicine and to help take care of pets and their owners. You have great communication skills, a cheerful attitude and you are willing to assist in a positive workflow by being a valuable, hard-working, and organized team player. We are a mostly digital practice and computer literacy is a must, including ability to type at a minimum of 50 WPM, please list your typing speed in your cover letter.
